Dodge Coronet 1949 to 1975
The 'Coronet' was first given to a Dodge in 1949 on the new bodies introduced that year, and it topped the Wayfarer and the Meadowbrook trim levels. For the 1953 new body, the Coronet was demoted to below the new 'Royal' line but still above the Meadowbrook. The 1955 Dodge Coronet was now the bottom of the pile as the entry level Dodge. A new Virgil Exner body was given to the fourth generation Coronet for 1957, 1958 and 1959 and that body got longer each year. For 1958 and 1958 the Coronet sat on a Desoto Fireflite chassis. The 'Coronet' badge was not used from 1960 to 1965
