Chrysler America

Walter Chrysler reorganised the Maxwell Motor Company into the Chrysler Corporation in 1925 and its brands included Dodge (cars and trucks) and Jeep. Chrysler moved in Europe in the 1960s by buying shares in SIMCA (In France) and the Rootes Group (in Britain). Full takeover of both companies was achieved by 1976, but by 1979 Chrysler bailed out and handed Chrysler Europe to Peugeot under the Talbot brand. Later associated with Mitsubishi and partners with Daimler-Benz, bankruptcy loomed and in 2009 they partnered with Fiat.

DeSoto returned to car production after WW2 and reissued its 1942 models as 1946 models, but without the hidden-headlight.	Chrysler DeSoto 1946	Chrysler DeSoto 1946. The DeSoto Deluxes produced 1946 to 1948 used DeSoto's 1942 bodies.	Chrysler DeSoto 1946.	Chrysler Windsor. In 1949 for the 1950 model year the Windsor was given a new body with integrated wings and a v-shaped windscreen.

For 1942, DeSoto started to move away from the Airstream designs, and the model was put on hold until the end of World War Two when it was revived littled changed in 1946.	Chrysler New Yorker 1959	Chrysler New Yorker 1959. Virgil Exner gave the New Yorker a new body in 1957 with the "Forward Look" styling.
