From 1980 a Vanden Plas version of the Austin Metro (ADO 88/LC 8) was sold, with better trim but it was hardly coachbuilt.

Austin Metro Vanden Plas 1985 5-door. In 1985 British Leyland gave the Austin Metro Vanden-Plas the Metro restyle and made available the new 5-door body. Under the bonnet was the MG Metro 1275 engine with optional automatic gearbox.

Austin Metro Vanden Plas 1985 5-door. Metros were restyled for 1985 and there was a 5-door body. The Vanden-Plas version was in production until 1989 when it was marketed under the name 'Metro GS' and was replaced by the Rover Metro GS in 1990.
